There are several reasons why they are now much more of a problem: many more computers are in use, and there are many more ways of sharing information between them. Advances such as the Internet have made it possible for computer viruses to spread much more quickly than ever before, and more computer users in general--especially those that don't understand what viruses are--have given virus writers a much richer set of targets

Virus Prevention Agreement For Personal Computers ( Desktop’s )

Virus scanning on the desktop is probably the most important part of the three point scanning strategy. Even if the virus penetrates the internet gateway scanner by arriving in an encrypted email, even if it is not caught by the server scanner (which does not scan email), it will have to be caught by the desktop before it is allowed to infect.

It is often the case that keeping desktop anti-virus software up to date is one of the hardest tasks faced by the system administrator. This is especially the case on the desktops not permanently connected such as laptops with docking stations.

We have Three (3) types of Virus Prevention Agreements for Desktop’s

Weekly – Virus guards are updated weekly manually ( where by you don’t need to log on to the net spending time and money ), and the computer is scanned weekly.

Fortnightly – Virus guards are updated every fortnight manually ( where by you don’t need to log on to the net spending time and money ), and the computer is scanned every fortnight.

Monthly - Virus guards are updated every month manually ( where by you don’t need to log on to the net spending time and money ), and the computer is scanned monthly.

Virus Prevention Agreement For Servers ( online servers, email / internet servers, file servers )

Using virus protection software on servers to scan centrally held files has several advantages over trying to scan the servers from a workstation. Firstly, network traffic is minimized since the scanning processes runs locally on the server. Secondly, any virus stealth mechanisms are not effective since the virus is never ‘active’ on the server.

We setup most organizations deploy anti-virus software to scan and update their servers at regular intervals, usually during periods of low user activity.
